2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™

The opening match at the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ will be hosted bySoccer City in Johannesburg and the Final. Originally known as the FNB Stadium that was built in 1987, but it has undergone a major upgrade ahead of this year's showpiece.

Location is in the south-west of the city, a short distance from the football-crazy township of Soweto. Same place hosted when the first mass rally of Nelson Mandela following his release from prison in 1990 and staged the 1996 CAF Africa Cup of Nations final in which South Africa beat Tunisia.

FNB Stadium has a increase capacity from 80,000 to 94,700 for the tournament. The ground's design is inspired by the iconic African pot known as the calabash.
